Does the Word "Anti-Aging" Make You Feel Older?
There has been talk about not using the word "Anti-Aging" products!
When referring to age, Anti-Aging is a word that sounds negative and makes you feel older. I was so glad to hear a segment on the Today Show, Channel 4 this week talking about the word "Anti-Aging" and how it puts you into an age group when we are ageless and should not label people by their age.
I never have wanted to use the word Anti-Aging, so I referred to my Skin Care as Healthy Skin Care. Even though all six of my Skin Care Collections have an abundance of anti-aging properties for your skin care, we need to remember that we still have to take care of ourselves first, from the inside out.
After awhile I felt like I had to change or incorporate the word Anti-Aging to the name of my skin care products, as that is one of the more common words used in advertising skin care. I do struggle as it sounds very negative and I like to hear words that will make positive changes to the skin.
For all the years I have had my business, there is another word that is not very positive to women and that is "wrinkles." I wanted to be gentle with the words I used with my customers, so I always referred to wrinkles as "character lines." I thought wrinkles made a person feel older, but character lines were more flattering to a woman. Many individuals were not sure what I meant by saying "character lines," so 2 years ago I made the big change to "wrinkles." It is the most popular word in the Beauty Industry besides Anti-Aging and I needed to get with
it and forget the gentleness of pretty words!
Getting back to the Today Show and their conversation about the word Anti-Aging, I agree with their segment that it puts you in an older group and makes you feel older. Today we are all conscious of taking care of ourselves. We want to feel and think younger, be positive and surround ourselves with positive people, exercise, eat a balanced diet, and use good skin care and cosmetic products on our skin that will be successful to a younger, healthier, and radiant self!
How old we are is not important, it is words like anti-aging that makes people feel older and are put into age groups. Grandparents and parents that were born in 1920's, 30's, and 40's were older, but today we are 10 years younger than our age. We are only as old as we feel and I want to keep my customers feeling and looking younger through the success of our skin care and cosmetics.
Wear a smile on your face and always keep dancing!
